Birth is like a marathon.
You don’t prepare by reading about it.
You train your body and mind –
until it’s already part of you.
So when it begins –
it carries you.
Just like a marathon –
knowing what to do isn’t the hard part.
You have more influence over how it unfolds than you might realise.
And you don’t have to go through it on your own.
Even when you’ve prepared, learned, or even gave birth before…
Something can still feel unclear.
Not quite settled.
Not fully ready.
That’s the missing piece.

And still find yourself:
Birth is like a marathon.
You don’t prepare by reading about it.
You train your body and mind –
until it’s already part of you.
Just like a marathon –
knowing what to do isn’t the hard part.
You’ve probably heard all the things that are meant to help:
To breathe through the contractions
To stay relaxed
To listen to your body
To make the right decisions
To stay positive, even when things don’t go as planned
But in the moment,
when it’s intense, overwhelming, and real –
it’s a completely different story.
When things start to feel real –
I’m there with you.
Your midwife is there for your medical care.
As your doula, I support you in how you move through everything that’s happening.
I help you:
This kind of support doesn’t just change how it feels –
it can also influence how your birth unfolds.
Often leading to:
And just as importantly –
a birth experience you feel good about,
even if it doesn’t go exactly as you imagined.
We start by getting to know each other – with a free, no-obligation meeting.
From there, we work together through 2–3 sessions, tailored to you.
We focus on:
You’ll also have ongoing support by phone or message whenever you need it.
When things begin to feel real, I’m there with you.
I’ll join you at home or at the hospital – whenever you feel ready for support.
I stay with you throughout your labour and birth, offering continuous, hands-on support,
and helping you stay calm, capable, and not overwhelmed
I also support your partner, so they can be there for you in the way you need.
I remain with you for a while after birth,
to make sure you feel settled and supported.
We meet again once you’re home.
A space to reflect on your birth, get support with feeding if needed, and feel reassured as you begin this new stage.
You’ve prepared – but still don’t feel fully ready
You want to feel more in control of what’s happening
You tend to feel overwhelmed when things are uncertain
You want support that goes beyond just medical care
Your previous birth didn’t feel the way you hoped –
and you want a different experience this time
Whether you have a strong support system around you – or not
Whether this is your first birth, or not
And also –
if you simply feel that having the right person with you could change everything
Hi, I’m Naama.
I’m a mum of three, and for the past few years my family and I have made Hawke’s Bay our home.
I’m a doula and childbirth educator.
My first birth experience was actually when I was there as my mum gave birth to my younger sister –
I was not even 8 at the time.
So I guess this path started quite early.
Since then, I’ve supported over 180 women and couples through birth, and many more through antenatal classes.
I’m also trained in breastfeeding support and postpartum care.
More than anything –
I believe you can have a positive birth experience
with the right support around you.
And I’m here to be that support.
Let’s see if this is what’s missing for you.
